What methods of enriching water with iodine exist?
Anatoly K.
Most manufacturers (especially water) use potassium iodide (KI) -based drugs, which are very common and inexpensive. Let's open a chemistry school textbook together and see what happens in water after adding KI.

Dissociation into potassium and iodine ions occurs. When two iodine ions (I-) are combined, active iodine (I2) is formed, which is volatile. So, we see that it is possible to add potassium iodide to water, but it makes no sense to look for iodine in this water. He will not be there in a few days. And if you subject the product to heating (boiling water, baking products), then iodine will evaporate instantly.

And if you do not heat the water, the iodine will not evaporate? It will fly away! In addition to heating, the formation of active volatile iodine provokes ultraviolet radiation. UV rays are present not only in sunlight, but also in the light of fluorescent lamps and energy-saving lamps. Thus, many manufacturers fall into a peculiar trap - on the one hand, they added an iodine-containing additive to their products, and on the other, in fact, there is practically no iodine in the product.

How to be?

There is a solution — you need to use in your diet water with natural Raimala iodine.

This iodine is located in a sandstone layer at a depth of 50 to 90 meters under 30 meters of basalt (ancient molten lava). This sandstone layer formed at the bottom of the ancient sea several million years ago. Such a long period of existence of this source gave iodine incredible stability. According to laboratory studies, in 2018–2020, water from the Raimala source retains its initial iodine concentration for 1.3 years when stored in a regular consumer plastic bottle (observations are ongoing). When boiling this water for 5 minutes, the iodine concentration also does not change.

Using Raimala water, you get exactly the amount of iodine that is indicated on the label regardless of the shelf life, even if you boil this water.
